BLOG 5: Changes to My Study Programme
The dance career currently lasts five years, but I entered with the old curriculum, which means that I will study for six years, two of which happened during the pandemic.
It's hard for me to know what I could change about my college career, since I don't have much to compare it to. However, there are always things that you want when you are studying. Part of those wishes is that it had folklore as part of the curriculum, because I think that everything is focused on the European and American vision, leaving aside the place where we developed, as well as its rhythms, colors, metrics, history and gestures. I would also add, graduating with the title of choreographer to give greater emphasis to the development of authorial creation. Taking these two changes into account, the workload would be greater, since there would be more courses to study and there would not be more space for recreation outside the university, this being counterproductive to what is constantly appealed to: being able to have time for personal activities.
The methodology in general usually comes from the feeling, experimentation and listening to oneself, as well as what surrounds us. Each professor has their methodological techniques that may be more linked to pedagogical tools, or may be very much from the personal experience of each one, focused on their training as a dancer. This greatly enriches what serves one as a student to be able to study or understand the subject.
